From Stress to Bliss for the holidays

The holiday season is a time to get together with your loved ones, family members and your closest friends. Throwing the best holiday parties and celebrating the two most memorable holidays of the entire year. Christmas and of course New Year's Eve. To most people it is the best time of the year, namely the kids who we parents make and put so much effort into helping them feel what we felt at their ages. To others it's the stress filled, disaster dinners, and intolerable family members we just wish would pack their bags and leave.

Here's a "prescription/recipe" of some sorts to guide and ease your holiday turmoil.
1. Just take a moment, make yourself your favorite hot beverage, preferably something sweet like an Eggnog or Peppermint Coffee, or even a Peppermint Hot Chocolate.
2. Sit by your fire (for those who don't own one the heater decorated like a fireplace will work) and stare out the window to the stars. *Sit for 10 mins
3. Enjoy a half hour of a good book, preferably one that takes your mind somewhere else.
4. Run a warm bath with candle lit room, scented in your favorite holiday scents. Burning oils works just as well. My personal favorite is Holly Wreath from Bath and Body works.
5. Soak for 10-15 mins undisturbed (make your husband and kids go out for a quick treat)
6. Create a list of things you want to accomplish *important to write it out, it helps your mind organize your thoughts* Place on your vanity mirror or somewhere where you will be sure to see it the next day
7. Either take a nap if during the day or go to bed and rest your pretty little head til morning.

That should help some like it usually helps me with my stress. Organizing your thoughts out on paper is a must when you're dealing with so many things at once. Once you  have it all written out spend some time organzing by priority level and develope a timeline to have them all accomplished. Putting a schedule to your tasks tends to keep you from starting things that don't need to be finished until next week. An organized mom is a happy mom. I call it organized chaos!

On another note i wish i knew that being an adult consisted of so many more things needing attention around the holidays. I'd be lying if i said i wasn't stressing out. Not that i haven't been stressing out enough throughout the year, it's more so lately due to gift giving and festivities. With christmas just around the corner and my birthday just passing my wishlist for this year has been far from completed. I've put so much aside for my son to have everything he's wanted, but i would still like to receive what i've always wanted. Hope everyone is having a better end of their year than most.

Happy organizing
Monique
