My Day in Smell

That’s just like it went.. I literally spent the day smelling things that you don’t typically don’t get recognized as other than that… A Scent! Today was a little different in a sense that I used my sense of smell for most of my thoughts and ideas and productivity.

Let me take you through my day in smell.

Mornings usually consists of getting up and getting breakfast ready for my two men in the house. My little one typically asking for cereal. and my husband bacon and eggs. Yet today i was woken up with the smell of freshly baked bread and coffee which was coming from the upstairs neighbors. Weird i know.. but it woke me up in such a good mood. My little boy of course like clockwork asked for his bowl of cereal and i usually don’t give it a passing glance and let him eat it in peace. But today it seemed as if the smell of cold milk and his favorite cereal put me in a state of nostalgia that eased my mind and boosted my mood even more.

Lunch time is typically chaotic in my house because it’s usually the time when i get my errands done or if i’ve been busy all morning it’s my time to try and relax. So then comes the scent of clean soap and detergent and the aroma sparked an idea to re-arrange the furniture in the apartment. I sent my boys out of the house for a couple of hours and began to move things around. I felt so accomplished that i rewarded myself with a nice refreshing shower. Now my shower gave such a state of relaxation that the scents of my toiletries made it a much more pleasant experience, as if i was on the beaches of Hawaii with my banana and coconut milk body wash from Avon.

Naturally dinner brought forth another aroma and sensation. Again my neighbors at this time was creating something that lead me to believe i was living under an Italian restaurant in Tuscany. Roasted garlic and spices filled the room and took me to a far away place that only in my dreams i seem to visit. My husband at this time came and saw what i had done with the place and surprised me with taking me to get a pizza. Oh the joy that filled not only my mood but my stomach as well… You can only imagine that the smell of cheesy goodness and pineapple made my day so worth the efforts i put into feeling more ZEN.
